Women’s Health Goulburn North East (WHGNE)
DESCRIPTION
Women’s Health Goulburn North East (WHGNE) is the government funded, specialist women’s health service for the Goulburn Valley and North East Victoria. We are dedicated to working with government, organisations and rural communities to improve the delivery of health and community services for girls and women of all abilities in their local communities.
WHGNE provides training, information, data and resources to assist planners and services providers, as well as consultancy services on equity, gender and health, and evaluation, planning and research.
Our health promotion priorities align strongly with the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 priorities for promoting health and wellbeing, based on the significant causes of poor health that are most responsive to preventative action, and cause the greatest inequalities in health outcomes across the population. These include:
– Using a gendered lens in all planning
– Prevention of violence against women and children, including financial abuse
-Sexual and reproductive health
– Promotion of breastfeeding and family friendly communities
– Promotion of women’s empowerment through equity, access and inclusion
Leading and supporting collaborative cross sector partnerships are fundamental to our work, to plan evidence based action to support sustainable change in regional settings.
